Christopher Raymond

PROF. CHRISTOPHER RAYMOND

Professor Christopher Raymond is a Sustainability Scientist affiliated with the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS), University of Helsinki, Finland. His research focuses on the development of theories, concepts and approaches for assessing the multiple values of nature, including the assessment of the co-benefits and costs of nature-based solutions on biodiversity conservation, environmental justice, human-health and well-being; as well as new techniques for conceptualising and assessing senses of place. He leads the Human-Nature Transformations Research Group and HELSUS Urban Theme at the University of Helsinki. Also, he is Founding Member of the Participatory Mapping Institute, Coordinating Lead Author of the IPBES Values Assessment and PI and Leader of the ENVISION (Biodiversa) and VIVA-PLAN (Formas) projects.

PROF. ELZBIETA OPILOWSKA

Professor Elżbieta Opiłowska is Associate Professor of Sociology and Head of the Center for Regional and Borderlands Studies at the University of Wrocław. Also, she is an associate member of the Center for Interdisciplinary Polish Studies at the European University Viadrina. Her main expertise is in borderlands studies, memory cultures, European integration and qualitative methodology. Currently she is leading two research projects on De/Re-Constructing borders – narratives and imaginaries on divided towns in Central Europe, financed by the National Science Centre (NCN) and on Poland and Germany in the European Union – New forms and models of bilateral relations in foreign policy and cross-border cooperation, as a collaborative project with Hertie School, Berlin and the Center for Interdisciplinary Polish Studies/European University Viadrina, financed by the German-Polish Science Foundation.
